Jute
Jute is a textile fibre obtained from the inner bark of plants in the Tiliaceae family, particularly Corchorus capsularis and Corchorus olitorius, known as the ‘golden fibre’ due to its golden hue and silky sheen.

Its use became widespread during the Crimean War, when it replaced the scarce hemp, becoming a key economic driver for regions such as India and Bangladesh between the 19th and 20th centuries.

Jute is notable for its great length, strength and stiffness, its biodegradability, insulating properties, absorbency, ease of dyeing and compatibility with various industrial and textile treatments.
